Strategy & Design

The thinking before the building. We work out what the project has to achieve, who it is for and how it should look and behave, so the build that follows is short, calm and right the first time.

How a design phase runs

We start with a workshop, usually half a day, where we listen more than we talk. From that we write a short brief that everyone signs off. Then come the structure and wireframes, then the visual design, each shown to you in a working prototype rather than a static picture. You see how it feels on a phone before a single template is built.

  • One named contact for the whole phase
  • Fixed price for the phase, agreed after the workshop
  • Everything you receive is yours to keep, whether or not we build it

A good fit when

  • You are planning a new website, shop or application and want to avoid rebuilding it in a year
  • Your current site works but nobody can say why customers leave
  • You need a brand that looks credible next to bigger competitors
  • Accessibility has become a legal requirement for you

Questions we hear often

Do we have to build with you afterwards?

No. The strategy and design work stands on its own and you receive all files and documentation. Most clients do stay with us for the build, because the people who designed it are the ones who build it.

How long does it take?

A strategy phase for a typical company website takes two to three weeks. Design adds two to six weeks depending on the number of screens. Custom software design is scoped separately.

Do you also design print material?

Yes, as part of a brand identity project: business cards, letterheads, presentation templates and simple brochures.
